SATs and You

It is a statutory requirement at the end of Year 6 that all children in England must take Key Stage 2 SATs tests in Mathematics, English and Science. In addition to this, many children in Year 3 to 5 will take non-statutory SATs tests.

Today's education system places a huge emphasis on SATs exams, especially at the end of Key Stage 2. The government uses the results to produce league tables, Primary Schools use them to give a nationally recognised level of attainment for each child at the end of their primary education and Secondary Schools use them to stream and in some cases select pupils. Gaining a good KS2 SATs level can help your child achieve a place at the Secondary School of your choice.

Practise, Practise and Practise

Practise is the key to success with SATs tests. This is why Primary Schools start revising months in advance of the test, run 'booster classes' and throw the normal timetable out of the window weeks before the tests.

Our Test Packs

Our downloadable Test Pack software or orderable CD version provide a large database of practise questions - each one with a hint to aid learning. Timed tests can also be taken (without the hints) which are computer marked and generate diagnostic graphs highlighting a pupil's weakness. This weakness can then be targeted specifically for further revision, either by level or attainment area. An overall KS2 pack is available for Maths and Science and in addition individual Year group packs are available in Maths for Year 3, 4 and 5.
